Where indie meets psychedelic rock in the scenic Shambala Park on 7-8 December 2024, experience Helter Skelter, a weekend of raw soundscapes, trippy visuals, and eclectic energy just a beat away from Cape Town.

When a festival like Helter Skelter rolls around, it’s not just about the music. Helter Skelter Vol. 3 brings a rare intensity, offering a full-spectrum experience from throbbing psych-rock beats to mind-bending visuals and everything in between. Now in its third year, this gathering, by Live Sessions and The Glue Factory, has become a vital hub for local and international artists to express the eclectic range of modern psychedelic rock.

Shambala Park’s outdoor setting adds an edge—an isolated haven, just far enough from the city, where the power of live rock can thrive. Helter Skelter is all about immersion: live liquid light shows courtesy of The Glue Factory, DJ sets bridging the best of electronica and rock, and stalls where you can snag everything from tattoos to handcrafted merchandise. It’s more than a performance; it encapsulates the psych-rock ethos permeating every facet of the festival.

More Than Just a Show

Helter Skelter Vol. 3 offers a way to get lost in a world shaped by trippy visuals, raw sound, and the electric charge of creative independence. From a carefully curated “Sunday Funday” show to food trucks dishing out local bites, the festival takes pride in fostering a full-bodied experience. And there’s heart behind the hype: a portion of the proceeds supports a school in Dunoon, underscoring Helter Skelter’s commitment to the community.

I can’t play any musical instruments or sing, so this is my contribution to the local music scene — which I love immensely. I can’t touch my toes, but that has held me back only slightly in life. My hobbies include reading, beer, bringing up Let’s Get Local when no one asked, writing, and surprising people with my pool skills. I believe somehow all of this will lead me to Dave Grohl.
